ORPHANAGE VISITATION

During three weekends between March and April 2019, Tzu Chi Primary School held its annual visitation to orphanages in and around Jakarta, involving Primary 5 students. This community service activity reflects the core teachings of Tzu Chi Foundation, namely gratitude and empathy, which we aim to ingrain within our students on a daily basis.

During the visitations, students were not only able to tour the orphanage, but also able to bond with the orphans through games, Shou-Yu performances and lunch.

EARLY CHILDHOOD: FUN DAYS AT TAMAN MINI
“Education is a natural process carried out by the child and is not acquired by listening to words but by experiences in the environment.” – Dr. Maria Montessori

At the beginning of term 4, our lovely students, teachers and Daai Mamas went to Taman Mini Indonesia Indah for a Field Trip. Nursery students explored the Bird Park and the Adventure of Dinosaurs. Taman Mini’s Bird Park is known as the biggest bird sanctuary in Indonesia.
PRIMARY SCHOOL: STUDENT-INVOLVED CONFERENCE (SINC)
As the name suggests, Student-Involved Conference (SINC) includes the learner in the conversation about his/her learning and its progress. Unlike traditional conferences, SINC opens the doors for students to repurpose their projects into something more than a score component.
SECONDARY SCHOOL: APPLYING LANGUAGE AND COMMUNICATION SKILLS
The Middle Years Programme and Diploma Programme language classes aim to develop students who are able to use language appropriately in a variety of contexts. Two of the specific objectives of IB language classes include encouraging students to engage in unrehearsed exchanges on a wide range of topics of personal and global significance, and secondly, enabling students to express a wide range of ideas, opinions and feelings, and communicate information in a wide range of social and academic contexts.
