  Regina Pacis visits Tzu Chi School

On Friday, December 6, 2019, Tzu Chi School PIK welcomed 22 delegates from school management team and staff from Regina Pacis School Jakarta lead by Mr Handy Nagaria, Regina Pacis Jakarta School Director. Regina Pacis is a catholic school built in the late 50s with two schools in Indonesia, Jakarta and Bogor. 

 

Tzu Chi School is known for its humanistic education and this visit was intended for Regina Pacis Jakarta to learn about our values, and our culture as well as the school’s implementation on environment protection. 

 

Mr Sudino Lim, Tzu Chi School Director presented a heartwarming welcome message to Regina Pacis Jakarta, while sharing the importance of building children’s character. “Master Cheng Yen said the essence of real education is to teach a great foundation for life, which is to establish students with good character,” he said. He also highlighted how humanistic education could affect a family of a student, in the hope that family will bring impact to the community.

Ms Lidwina Rahayu, Regina Pacis Kindergarten Principal who visited and toured Tzu Chi Early Childhood school said she admires the school’s mission in building students’ character all the way to its thoughtful activities, “When I saw the availability of restroom and sink inside the class, I find it very thoughtful since children won’t have to leave the class and is aware to take care of their own health by regularly washing their hands.”

 

Tzu Chi Early Childhood, who recently won the national healthy school competition, is proud of its character building in students of early age. Ms Iing Felicia, Tzu Chi EC Principal highlighted how the school’s win was owed to Master Cheng Yen’s teaching, “Regardless of our participation in the competition, our school puts ahead humanistic education which value gratitude, respect, and love. We’ve been teaching children to respect themselves and others by keeping themselves clean since we first build this school,” said Ms Iing. 

 

Regina Pacis Jakarta also praised Tzu Chi School’s efforts in its environment protection. “I heard earlier, students are often involved in recycling programme like sorting their waste. It’s good to know they could understand about waste sorting since the early age,” Ms Rahayu added. 

 

After an hour of school tour to respective Tzu Chi School, a sharing session was held at Secondary VIP room in which our school management and Regina Pacis Jakarta delegates discussed about efforts to be done in areas where either school have to improve such as class system and environment conservation efforts.
